Women's Ministry Board
Tracy Kirk
Tracy has been serving in the ministry since 1991, where she, along with her husband, worked on staff at Calvary Chapel Santa Fe, NM. In 1997 they returned to Tennessee to plant a Calvary in the heart of the Bible belt! Her husband, Mark Kirk, is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Knoxville.
Serving as the director of the women’s ministry, she delights in seeing women find their purpose in life by knowing God’s will through His Word and by discovering God’s call through serving others.
Tracy’s favorite food is chocolate and her favorite pastime is sitting in her big chair at home with Mark after church and eating fresh out-of-the-oven cookies! She lives in Knoxville with her husband and their four daughters - Adaya, Liel, Tali and Abi.
Jamie Abernathy
I was born (both times) in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and came to CCK from CCFTL after the death of my husband in 1998. My passions are “choosing Life” in every possible way the Lord allows. In raising a disabled son for almost 17 years, the Lord has brought many opportunities of evangelism and discipleship.
Other areas of service have included GriefShare, hospital visitation, jail, drug and alcohol rehab, children’s church, prayer team, and biblical counseling. Currently serving with our jail team we disciple women at a local half-way house while co-teaching biblical foundations to those seeking freedom through Jesus Christ from addictions and other forms of idolatry. My desire is to live out and exhort women to surrender every aspect of their lives to Jesus Christ and experience the abundant life, peace and joy that can only be found living by and in His Word, and in His fellowship, no matter the circumstances of life.
Isa 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? And I said, Here am I. Send me..
Tricia Morris
Tricia is originally from Gahanna, Ohio (near Columbus). She grew up a traditional Lutheran and a “Buckeye.” Her passion for God’s Word and her deep relationship with the Lord developed as she witnessed God’s power in restoring her own life through the obedience of baptism and through a broken heart. Instead of piecing her heart back together, God gave her a new one. Tricia is married to Pastor Brian and has three beautiful daughters - Shelby, Gabrielle, and Madison.
She is currently serving as a member of the women's ministry board, secretary at the church, and is involved in several other ministries. For over 8 years, she has walked the road of being a Calvary Chapel pastor’s wife. Tricia loves to sew, cook gluten-free goodies; loves animals and is a retreat junky. Her gifts include hospitality, service, and administration.
Linda Coe
Linda was involved for many years with the Christian school at Calvary Chapel of the Finger Lakes in upstate New York. After her husband retired, they relocated to Knoxville in 2005. The Lord is using and stretching her giftings in serving the body through children’s church, CCK’s special events’ team, women’s Bible study, and Tracy’s women's ministry board. New doors of service are opening at KARM (Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries), where she will be teaching remedial studies to the children housed at the facility. What an opportunity to Jesus-love on those who need it most!
Chip & Linda continue to serve side-by-side in ministry since 1990. It is exciting and rewarding to step in obedience to the Lord’s daily leading together. Their desire is to be encouragers of others to step out in faith and see the wondrous things the Lord will do through willing vessels.
Michelle Thress
Michelle, having recently returned to Knoxville from what she considers a 2-year vacation in Northern Virginia, is excited to be back at Calvary Chapel Knoxville. She and her husband, Mike, have four children – Zach, Mikaela, Gabrielle, and Simeon. They feel privileged to have been part of Calvary Chapel Knoxville since its beginning.
During the past 12 years, she has served in various ministries including marriage counseling, children’s ministry, and leading parenting classes with her husband. Michelle is currently serving in the children’s church, and serves along- side Mike in pre-marital counseling. At this point in her life, homeschooling her children is her number one ministry. She dreams of a spotless home and a quiet week alone on a beach with a pile of books to read and an iced tea in her hand. Michelle's claim to fame is the same today as it was growing up - she's "Tracy's little sister."
Laurie Potter
“But I trust in You, O Lord; I say “You are my God.” My times are in Your hands…”
Ps 31:14-15a
Laurie is the wife of Terry Potter and the mother of three beautiful girls. Although she has been involved with various ministries throughout the years, ranging from kids’ church to adult ministry - her greatest love is women’s ministry and worship.
Laurie has been active in crisis pregnancy ministry for years, and in 2001, started “Grace House” in Deland, Florida. As she has had the sin of abortion in her past, one of the greatest joys of her heart is reaching out to women that have experienced abortion and seeing God draw them back to Him!
It is her heart to encourage women to walk by faith, and to trust in His sovereignty. God leads her to do this by loving and encouraging others through prayer, by helping other women seek God through worship, and by reaching out to those who are hurting.
“Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior.” Ps 25:4-5
