outreach ministry
One of the greatest ways we can demonstrate God’s love to others is through our actions. Jesus is the highest expression of giving because He came to show God’s love. We can reflect that He cares by what we give and how we serve. Giving should not be merely something we do, but who we are. Calvary Chapel is committed to reaching out to our community to help meet the needs of the poor, homeless, and those who are unable to help themselves. Most importantly, to use these opportunities to share the Gospel.
- Proverbs 22:9 “He who has a generous eye will be blessed, For he gives of his bread to the poor.”
- Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Touching Lives in Jacmel Haiti
Calvary Chapel is sharing the gospel by partnering with local churches and providing practical recovery assistance to the poeple of Haiti. With weekly visits to a montessori school in downtown Jacmel , overseen by Pastor Joseph, we share Jesus through songs, movies, puppet shows & more, even giving these 200 students English lessons. Pastor Joseph also pastors a church, which meets in the same room on Sundays. Having a huge need for a larger and more secure structures, previous teams have built interim structures for classrooms and church space. "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves" - James 1:22.

Knox Area Rescue Ministries is a multi-faceted ministry that provides emergency clothing, food, and shelter to the homeless. They are able to house men, women, families, and victims of abuse. Meals to these people are supplied 3 times a day, 365 days a year. They also have educational programs to help them become more self-sufficient and able within the community. Many opportunities are available for those who have a heart to make a difference in the lives of those who are in need.
Knoxville Leadership Foundation
Amachi is a mentoring program whereby children whose parent(s) are incarcerated can receive one-on-one attention from someone with strong Christian principles. Many of these children have no guidance or example to prepare them for the years ahead. They need to know they’re loved and that someone cares. Support and encouragement during these early years may be all they need to keep them from following the path of their parents.
Lost Sheep Ministry shares the Gospel, and assists those in need directly on the streets of Knoxville. They meet each Wednesday ‘under the bridge’ of I-40 downtown. There they feed 100’s, meeting the physical need, and give them the Word of life meeting the spiritual need. Many lives are also encouraged to seek out help programs that they may once again gain a foothold to sustain themselves.
City Light Witnessing
This is an opportunity where we can "hit the streets" of Knoxville to share the Good News. We meet the first Friday of each month at the church at 6:30 pm for prayer and then go to a downtown area. Market Square is an ideal place because it is safe, free parking is available, and many people congregate especially being close to the University. The church will provide witnessing tracts. If you have a burden for souls and would like to see hearts turned to Christ, come join us.
Operation backyard brings people together in groups to provide home repair for low-income families. Project teams can be of various sizes to include youths from 7th grade and up. Activity examples are roof repair, painting, or building a handicap ramp. Volunteers are also needed for minor repairs as they come up.
